New York-based website builder Squarespace has recently expanded to Portland, and their sleek new lodgings in downtown’s Spalding Building are truly drool-worthy.
CEO Anthony Casalena worked with the design team at A+I to create a space that emphasizes fun and freedom but also encourages serious productivity in a variety of environments. Clean lines and hard angles reflect the company’s values of simplicity and elegance, while plush couches in collaborative spaces speak to the importance of comfort and creativity.
Casalena says a key goal in designing the space was to honor the history of their new home and Portland’s local flavor. Meeting rooms were named after Portland neighborhoods, bridges, and rivers, and many of the building’s original features, such as the bank vault door from back in the day when the Spalding Building housed the Oregon Bank, were maintained and integrated into the renovation.
