BRIEF: Squarespace, amid planning for Portland outpost, raises $40 million investment [The Oregonian, Portland, Ore.]

April 16--Squarespace, a big web publishing company based in New York, said Tuesday that it has landed $40 million in backing from the investment firm General Atlantic. The company said it will use the money to help it add products "that go beyond websites and online stores."

Squarespace confirmed in February that it's planning a large Portland customer service outpost, with dozens of employees by the end of 2014 and dozens -- or hundreds -- more later. Squarespace currently employs 285 at offices in New York and Dublin.

The company had previously reported a $38.5 million investment, in 2010.
