In this Squarespace spot directed by the legendary music photographer Danny Clinch, R&B musician Leon Bridges is shown paying his dues as he pursues his dreams. From crooning as he washes dishes in a restaurant kitchen to doing open mic nights in Fort Worth to hitting the road on his tour bus, his passion and perservance shine through. Near the end of the ad, we hear the Grammy-nominated artist in voice-over: "If you're ready for a bigger stage, build it." Then we see him casually scrolling through his elegantly designed website on a MacBook as he adds, "I'm Leon Bridges and this is my Squarespace."
Created out of Austin-based agency Preacher, the TV ad debuts, appropriately enough, during the Grammy Awards on Sunday night in a 30-second cut; the 60-second version shown here will air in regional markets (Austin, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, Portland, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, D.C.).
"We are always looking for ways to highlight our amazing customers," Squarespace Chief Creative Office David Lee said in a statement, "so when we learned Leon Bridges was a Squarespace user, we knew we had to tell his story."
