One of the biggest challenges for any size of business is reaching new customers. With 70% of TikTok users discovering new brands and products on TikTok, the social media platform can be a valuable tool for selling online. TikTok also offers low-cost marketing advantages. You can leverage your brand, user-generated content, and partnerships to reach wide audiences without hefty marketing expenses.

TikTok Shop is an ecommerce tool that allows you to sell products from your store on TikTok. With a Squarespace website, you can use an integration like ShoppeDance to sync product listings, orders, and inventory seamlessly, allowing you to focus on growing your audience.

1. Get set up with TikTok Shop Seller Center

Go to TikTok Shop Seller Center and sign up with your business information. You can sign up using an existing account if you already have a TikTok profile for your business.

Once approved, you’ll need to add your tax documents and banking information so you can get paid. Don’t forget to set up your fulfillment location and shipping details in the Seller Shipping section.

Follow the following steps to configure your fulfillment settings.

  1. Go to warehouse settings to set up your pickup & return warehouse locations.

  2. Create a seller shipping template to offer your preferred shipping speed options to your customers on TikTok.

  3. Change your shipping options from the default “TikTok Shipping” to “Seller Shipping.”

2. Create a TikTok account for your shop

If you don’t already have one, create a dedicated TikTok account for your brand and link it to your TikTok Shop Seller Center. This account will be your brand’s face on TikTok, where you can post content, interact with followers, and showcase your products. Make sure your username reflects your brand, and include a concise bio, a link to your shop, and an eye-catching profile picture.

Add multiple links to your profile with a link in bio tool

3. Connect the ShoppeDance extension

You can manually add products to TikTok Shop without connecting your store to an extension or website plug-in. But an extension can save you time by syncing your product details and orders between TikTok Shop and Squarespace.

On Squarespace, install the TikTok Shop by ShoppeDance extension and follow the instructions to connect your TikTok Shop. This will let you sync product listings, orders, and inventory between TikTok Shop and your Squarespace site.

4. Sync your products

You can easily upload your products to TikTok Shop by syncing your existing Squarespace products. Start by going to the Categories page in ShoppeDance. Here, map your Squarespace product categories to the correct TikTok Shop categories.

Next, head over to the Products page and select the items you want to publish on TikTok Shop. You can sync everything in your store or choose a specific set of products you want to sell on TikTok.

Edit each product listing to make sure all required attributes are filled in. This will ensure your products contain all the necessary information to be approved by TikTok Shop’s product review process. For some categories, like cosmetics, you might need to upload additional product certificates. Once everything is in order, click Sync to publish your products to TikTok Shop.

5. Customize your product listings for TikTok

If you’re connected to ShoppeDance, you can customize your product details for TikTok Shop without changing your original Squarespace listings. Add your brand name to product titles, describe products for better SEO, and make listings more appealing to your TikTok audience and content creators.

TikTok Shop also has pricing tools to help you create a TikTok-exclusive discount to convince new customers to convert.

Real-time inventory updates

Keeping your inventory up-to-date is crucial to avoid overselling and keep customers happy. ShoppeDance helps by updating inventory in real-time between Squarespace and TikTok Shop. When you receive orders from TikTok, inventory levels are automatically adjusted, eliminating manual tracking on your end.

6. Streamline order fulfillment

If you connect the ShoppeDance extension, your orders appear in your Squarespace account, so you can track and fulfill them from one place. Once the orders are fulfilled, the tracking numbers from Squarespace automatically sync with TikTok, ensuring smooth order processing.

ShoppeDance also supports integration with third-party logistics (3PL) providers. That makes it easy to coordinate orders if you sell print on demand or dropshipped products or if you use a 3PL to ship your own products.

7. Decide how you want to sell on TikTok

When selling on TikTok, you have multiple options to showcase and sell your products.

  • Live shopping: Live shopping lets you engage with your audience in real-time, showcase products, answer questions, and create urgency with limited-time offers. This interactive approach can strengthen your connection with viewers and drive sales.

  • Shoppable videos: Shoppable videos allow you to embed product links directly into your TikToks. This shopping experience makes it easy for viewers to purchase products without interrupting their use of the app.

  • Shop Page: This is a dedicated storefront within the app, displaying your entire product catalog. It provides a central place for users to browse and buy your products, enhancing visibility and accessibility on TikTok.

  • Shop Tab: The Shop Tab on your TikTok profile lets followers explore and buy your products directly from your profile page. This also makes it easy for followers to shop without leaving the app, increasing your chances of converting them.

3 tips for successful selling on TikTok

Finding sales success on social media takes time, because you’re relying on the algorithm to reach new people. But there are a few techniques you can try to get your brand and products in front of a bigger audience.

1. Create engaging content

To attract customers, create engaging content that showcases your products or covers related topics. For example, a skincare business owner could create content about building a daily skincare routine and highlight a few of their own products.

Use TikTok’s features like trends, challenges, and hashtags to reach a broader audience. Behind-the-scenes videos, product demonstrations, and user-generated content are great ways to connect with your audience too.

2. Work with content creators

Collaborate with content creators who align with your brand. They usually have an engaged audience to promote your products to. And their authentic reviews can boost your product’s credibility.

Many sales on TikTok come from creator affiliate campaigns. You can set up campaigns through TikTok Shop’s affiliate center or reach out to creators directly.

3. Boost your content with paid media

If you have high-performing content, give it an extra boost with paid ads (called spark ads on TikTok) to reach a wider audience. Start small and test with different products or audiences. You can track metrics like views, engagement, and sales from shoppable content to gauge success and refine your strategy.
